About Hessner
Hessner Technologies is a start-up backed by Hong Kong Science and Technology Park. Hessner’s co-founders pioneered a commercial "e-trike' passenger service in the Philippines which they operated for several years, and this is where they identified the high cost of batteries and short life as major pain points for operators.
In the summer of 2023, we launched our first battery product which is an active supercapacitor module as part of a Hybrid Energy Storage System (HESS) platform to extend battery life for low-speed electric vehicles. Then, in December 2023 we expanded our solution to a Battery-as-a-Service pay-per-use service.

Issues in the market
Across South East Asia, vehicle electrification adoption on low-speed commercial vehicles (3 and 4-wheeled LSEV) is hindered because of battery operating problems. In the Philippines as an example, less than 0.1% of commercial vehicle owners have shifted to electric.
